Bug of the Year (Kick Start)

For this Summer learning journey activity we had to create a bug using different types of shapes. My bug was based of a caterpillar, I used a oval for the body a circle for the eyes and head, then used curved parts for the legs and antenna. This task was easy and fun to do.

  1. Kia ora Daniel,

It’s Charlotte here, a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey. Well done on your ‘Bug of the Year’ activity. I can see you have put quite a lot of time and effort into completing it!

A caterpillar is a pretty cool bug to choose to research. I think it is amazing how they go from tiny little caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. What made you choose to research caterpillars?

The fact that stood out to me was that caterpillars have 4000 muscles! That is amazing, especially because they are so small! What was the most interesting fact you learnt about caterpillars during your research?
